The Clarets’ first team returned to training

Sean Dyche's squad returned to the Barnfield Training Centre for a day of testing and analysis.

It is a staggered start this season, with the club’s internationals having an extended break due to an elongated season playing for their countries.

That means the likes of Tom Heaton, Robbie Brady, Jeff Hendrick, Kevin Long, Matej Vydra, Nahki Wells and Johann Berg Gudmundsson will all link up with the squad for their training camp in Portugal next week.

The squad were put through their paces by the club’s Sports Science team on their return to pre-season training.

A day of testing and analysis was the pre-cursor to the players heading out onto the training ground on Tuesday, as they get back into the swing of things at Barnfield.

Ahead of the new season, striker Chris Wood has taken the number nine shirt vacated by Sam Vokes.
